How do bath powders fit into the oil bath?
Ennai kuliyal, the oil bath, is a long Tamil custom on Deepavali morning and, in many homes, on Saturdays. Warm nallennai is applied to the hair and body, and a bath powder is used to wash it off. To use a Chettyz bath powder, take a small amount in a separate bowl with a dry spoon, mix as directed on the pack, apply, and rinse well. Keep the rest of the pack dry.
Our Diwali combo packs sesame oil, kuppaimeni bath powder and two cotton towels together, with groundnut oil and nattu sakkarai for the festive sweets.
Common questions
Can I add water straight to the bath powder pack?
No. Mix only what you need in a separate bowl, so the rest of the powder stays dry.
How do I make a soap bar last?
Keep it on a soap dish that drains, so it dries between uses.
Is shipping free?
Yes, on chettyz.com orders above ₹499.
